NEWT’s first project in Maine, and its first “fee preserve,” or land it owned outright, was called Piscataquis River I. This biologically rich 1,550-acre wilderness preserve, located in central Maine, was the foundation for NEWT’s current 7,296-acre Alder Stream Wilderness Preserve. Visit the Preserve Page.
