Experience Connecticut’s newest forever-wild landscape on a hike with Cornwall Conservation Trust (CCT) and Northeast Wilderness Trust (NEWT). Over the course of 2 miles (round-trip), we’ll walk through two Preserves, Red Mountain Preserve and Dobbs Preserve, and enjoy beautiful views of the third, Greyledge Preserve, at a bald overlook. Encompassing 375 acres, these wildlands are owned by CCT and were further protected this summer with a forever-wild conservation easement held by NEWT. Learn how this wilderness area is safeguarding biodiversity, sequestering carbon, and growing into an ancient forest of tomorrow—all thanks to the power of partnership.

Our hike will follow a spur trail of the Mohawk State Trail. It is steep and rocky, and gains about 600 feet in elevation. Park at the kiosk on Johnson Road, off of Cornwall Hollow Road (Route 43) in Cornwall (click here for directions). Please leave pets at home.

Rain Date: In the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms, the hike will be held on Sunday, October 2 at 10:00 AM. Registrants will be notified.
