Getting to Know the Wildlife of Muddy Pond Wilderness Preserve & Wampanoag Common Lands

During the summer of 2022, Native Land Conservancy and Northeast Wilderness Trust jointly hosted the Rewilding Internship. Justin Pikulski served as the 2022 Rewilding Intern. For his capstone project, Justin conducted a survey of wildlife present at the Wampanoag Common Lands (held by Native Land Conservancy) and a section of Muddy Pond Wilderness Preserve (held by Northeast Wilderness Trust)—neighboring conservation lands in Kingston, Massachusetts. Using wildlife cameras set over the course of eight weeks, he analyzed the diversity of species present on the landscape as well as how much they spent time within varying habitat types.
