Alder Stream Wilderness Preserve Grows by 200 Acres

The Alder Stream Wilderness Preserve in Maine has grown once again, now totaling 7,292 acres in central Maine. This June, Northeast Wilderness Trust purchased 200 acres known as the McCorrison Addition thanks to support from the Summer Hill Foundation and many individual donors.

Like much of the forests of the Northeast, this land has been logged in the recent past and is beginning its rewilding journey. The land includes a beautiful four-acre wetland, and borders the Preserve’s easternmost parcel. Alder Stream Wilderness Preserve is NEWT’s Ambassador Preserve in the state of Maine.
